At Fitch Irick, strong communities start with strong teams. Our resident experience is shaped not only by the quality of our affordable housing properties, but also by the way our home office teams collaborate, problem-solve, and support one another every day. That is why we invest in employee engagement activities that are both fun and mission aligned.
Recently, our Charlotte home office transformed into a mini putt course designed to bring colleagues together, reinforce core property management knowledge, and create a shared experience that went beyond day-to-day tasks. Four to five custom putt-putt holes wound through the office, complete with ramps, curves, and obstacles that required focus and creativity from each team.
Blending Trivia, Teamwork, and Property Management Skills
What made this activity unique was the way it tied directly back to our work. Each hole featured property management trivia that touched on different areas of our platform, including HR, operations, and resident services. Teams were challenged to answer questions before completing each play, combining their short game with their understanding of what it takes to successfully operate multifamily communities.
The office was divided into teams, with one group at each hole at a time. As teams rotated through the course, colleagues from different departments had the chance to collaborate in a new setting, share knowledge, and see how their roles connect to the broader goals of our property management and affordable housing efforts. Along the way, a few impressive plays added to the excitement and gave everyone something to cheer about.
Celebrating Friendly Competition and Shared Wins
After several rounds of play, two teams tied for first place. Each member of the winning teams received a $15 Dunkin Donuts gift card as a small token of appreciation for participating and leaning into the spirit of the day.
Congratulations to our mini putt champions:
Jason Marin, Kathi Cota, Jessica Jones, Jeremy Burris, Sarah Houle, Alisa Thompson, Brenda Wren, Liz Cicirello, Chris Webster, Will Morris, Isaiah Towns, Nicole Burt, Graham Larson, Nia Harmon and Olivia Spell.
Events like this help us build connection across departments, encourage healthy competition, and create shared memories that carry over into our daily work. When teams know each other well, communication improves, problem-solving is faster, and residents and partners ultimately see the benefit.
How Engagement Activities Support Our Mission
As a vertically integrated real estate investment management platform, Fitch Irick is focused on long-term affordable and workforce solutions that deliver both community impact and strong operational performance. Activities like the mini putt course are one small but meaningful way we support the people behind that mission.
By creating space for collaboration and engagement through team building exercises, we reinforce the same values that underpin our impact in the communities we serve. These touchpoints also help us attract and retain team members who are energized by both the work and the culture, which is central to the experience we offer at Fitch Irick.
Whether we are celebrating a project milestone, highlighting one of our properties, or hosting a home office engagement activity, the goal is the same: to support the people who make our affordable housing platform possible and to deliver stable, high-quality communities for residents who need them most.
